Biden speaks foreign language to the masses

In a speech, Biden said…

“Gird your loins,” Biden told the crowd. “We’re gonna win with your help, God willing, we’re gonna win, but this is not gonna be an easy ride. This president, the next president, is gonna be left with the most significant task. It’s like cleaning the Augean stables, man.

Gird your loins?  Does he speak in Victorian english, too?

I notice that Barack Obama wants everyone to learn another language, but which one should it be? The British learn French, the Australians study Japanese, and the Americans prefer Spanish. Why not decide on a common language, taught worldwide, in all nations?

I think it is relevant that UNESCO will meet in Paris, on 15th December, to acknowlege Esperanto, as a living language, in conjunction with the International Year of Languages

As I turn on my television, I question whether it is a good idea for all Americans to speak a 2nd language – seeing that many have not fully grasped the first one.

Well according to this post to speak a foreign language all you have to do is know one word. So by that logic I’m actually quadralingual since I know the words hola, bonjour, and olá.

“gird your loins” is actually a phrase that is in the bible and not only that, a girdle is a pretty common word along with loin so it wasn’t as if he was saying “Voulez vous coucher avec moi ce soir”

Sometimes I don’t even know why you bother posting.
