Clement for Mayor? No surprise here . . .

In a move that surprised absolutely nobody, Bob Clement announced that he is establishing an exploratory committee for mayor .  . . . for those of you who don’t know Bob .  . Larry Woods Named Chairman of Exploratory Committee ‘Clement for Mayor’Nashville, TN — Bob Clement announced today he has formed an exploratory committee for the 2007 race for Mayor of Nashville.
“I have today authorized the creation of ‘Clement for Mayor’ to serve as an exploratory committee for a race for Mayor,” Clement said.
Clement also announced that Nashville attorney, Larry Woods would serve as Chairman of the Clement for Mayor exploratory committee.
“I am very grateful to Bob for the confidence he has expressed in me. Bob Clement has a vision for the future of Nashville that is positive and inclusive,” Woods said. “I believe Bob Clement’s background as a businessman, Member of the TVA Board, Public Service Commissioner, Cumberland University President and Member of Congress gives him precisely the right experience to lead Nashville into the future.”
Woods noted that mayoral races in Nashville are non-partisan and that the campaign and its various committees and functions would be open to all.
Larry Woods is the senior partner of Woods & Woods, a Nashville law firm. In addition to practicing law, Woods has been involved at the top levels of political campaigns at the Presidential, Gubernatorial, U.S. Senate, Congressional and local levels. He is a nationally recognized expert in forensics and debate preparation.

He is a nationally recognized expert in forensics and debate preparation.For those of you who are new to Nashville, Bob Clement has served at all levels of government.  He has not rocked the boat too much among liberals or conservatives.  His dad was governor.  Due to his political connections, likely, his brother is headed for the Tennessee Supreme Court in this next few months (You just wait and see.).  But, since another Democrat is currently serving in his house seat he is SOL.  Therefore, he is relegated to running for Mayor.  In summary, that is what is going on here.
