Fred Thompson, Pro Choice?

24 April, 2007 (07:30) | Tennessee News | By: Phil Ayres

VV has an interesting piece on Fred’s stance on abortion

I worked with that campaign. I have to admit that is one issue that surprised me the most in that campaign – at the time. Based on some of the campaign literature that I saw, as well as Fred’s positions (as reflected in the video), it was clear that he was “pro-choice”, by current definition.

It was strange to me, at the time, that NO body was making a big deal about it. In my opinion, Fred was and is such a damn incredible candidate that nobody seemed to care.

I would be interested to hear Fred’s current position on the subject. But, let’s face it. Of the leading candidates, does anyone have strong pro-life credentials? Don’t think so. Therefore, where will the adament pro-lifers go? Hard to say. But, I hope they fall with Fred… the ONLY worthwhile Republican in this race.

More on this…

Bill Hobbs

  • Bill, I hear ya’.  But, I think that “I do not believe that the federal government ought to be involved in that process” will not satisfy the adament pro-life crowd.  I remember thinking, during that campaign, that this was an interesting federalist twist on the issue… and quite a bit different from what other conservatives were saying at the time.
