Fulmer and the Vols disgraced again by South Carolina

It’s official.  The Vols have lost to every single rival and in a disgraceful way.  Fulmer is a pathetic excuse for a coach – way past his time.  If Hamilton does not fire him within weeks, you can kiss the program goodbye.

And, if Hamilton – as he said – doesn’t listen to the fans in making decisions like this, he WILL start listening when nobody gives a damn enough to go to the games next year.

Fire Fulmer.  It’s an absolute no-brainer.

Whoa, Phil. “Pathetic excuse for a coach…” He was just at the SEC championship last year and they won their bowl game. He’s got 2 SEC titles, one national title and 4 divisional championships. I agree it’s time for him to step aside, but the man deserves a little respect. He’s been loyal to the program for over 40 years. People were clamoring for his head the year I played in 2000, and in 2001 he made a run for the national championship game, but lost to LSU at SECs. The majority of his former athletes, if not all, endorse him as a head coach. But performance is measured by results, and he’s having a terrible year. But…come on.

  4. Phil Ayres says:

Kevin, with all due respect, he has not won a championship of any kind in a decade. And, yes, for the amount of money he is making, he is a lower tier coach. I would re-evaluate if he were making 1/4 of his current salary. I think the rapid success of Meyer and Saban prove my point.

The quality of a coach is measured by championships. What’s his bowl record in the last decade? How many SEC championships? National championships? Seriously, if you could have him work for a Bobby Johnson salary, he might be worth it… but, the performance of his teams (the measuring stick) in the last decade is poor.

  5. GEORGE SUTTON says:

Having lived in Knoxville most of my life until 20+ years ago, but a big orange fan. It think it may be a little early to let Fulmer go. He does have a good overall record, but the BIGGEST mistake he made was hiring a offensive coodinator that for the most part was unknown. An offense that averaged over thirty point last year lost very few staters and this year is averaging 17 points and most of them against very weak teams. The defense has played pretty well considering they spend 80% of the time on the field. I say give him more time BUT get rid of the offensive coodinator.
