“Governor” Wilder — a disgrace for a progressive state
I absolutely cannot believe that we are going through this all over again. I cannot believe that Senator Mike Williams would consider voting for an 85-year old man who is the poster child for the status quo over Ron Ramsey, a member of Williams’ own party.
This is a very important position. The Tennessean said it best: “Wilder wields the kind of power that lawmakers covet. He makes the call on who gets choice committee chairmanships and positions, which ultimately decide what bills are heard and shape the Senate’s agenda.”
I don’t know what kind of Republican Williams is. But, clearly, he is not one who has the best interests of Tennesseans, in mind. If he did, why would he not support someone who is energetic and can actually use this position as a force to make better policy in this state?
If Williams has a problem with Ramsey, he should just say so. But, don’t hem and haw around, saying “I just don’t know what I am going to do”. Ridiculous. I would hope that – if Williams votes for Wilder – he has the decency to leave the party this time. The voters have spoken. They elected a Republican majority in the General Assembly. Republicans should ALL buck up and elect a Republican Lt. Governor.
