I was glad to see Phil Gramm step down from the McCain campaign. This is not what McCain needed right now…
Former Republican Sen. Phil Gramm said today he is stepping down as co-chairman of Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign amid criticism for saying that “we have sort of become a nation of whiners.” Gramm said his comments have become a distraction and that he would “join the growing number of rank-and-file McCain supporters.”
A “nation of whiners”???? Given the amount of economic suffering that people are facing, at present, I am frankly shocked that a politician would engage in this kind of discourse.
