i am an independant and planned to vote for ford until i found out that al gore endorsed him. if al gore thinks he is the man, then he can’t be because gore is the dumbest individual to ever hold an office. it doesn’t bother me that ford wears expensive clothes or stays in ritzy hotels, because i defy anyone besides to find a politician that isn’t in it for the money except ross perot (who was already rich). it isn’t a bad thing, but it’s a career, just like a doctor, you get wealthy and help people(hopefully). i think he is an intelligent guy, but he needs to distance himself from two things…his family and al gore

Let’s clarify why Harold Ford “made” it, Gandalph. I don’t know many Congressmen who – because of dear old dad – were given a Congressional seat for a graduation gift before they ever held any type of job. Wow, I know of one.

Chris and Gandolph…did you read what Phil wrote: Your boy can’t even pass the Tennessee Bar Exam. I guess St. Albans, UPENN, and Michigan pedigree don’t get you very far. Last time I checked, TN has like an 80% pass rate on the Bar. Many equate bar passage to intelligence.

You could have done better than the lame “limosine liberals” attack, on a FORD of all people. Only white people think that the Ford constituency begrudges their wealth. Arguing that wealth precludes someone from being a “public servant championing the causes of the poor and middle class” is incredibly weak and short sighted, not to mention a logical fallacy. It also begs the question, do the very many rich and wealthy republicans only champion the causes of the rich and Enron executives?

The Republicans love retaliating against those who speak out against their failed choices by viciously and falsely attacking those people.

This is yet another example of that.

However, they are not going to get away with it this time.

Harold Ford Jr. represents a better future for all Tennesseeans and the Republicans know that.

Attacks like these on the Congressman will not stand because the people of Tennessee’s desire for change carries far more weight than any attack the Republicans can issue.

We will not stand up for it!

This is exactly what Tennessee republicans need to be doing — informing fellow Tennesseans about Ford; not attacking other republicans. No matter which candidate you support as the republican nominee, we all should focus our efforts on Ford.
