Nice bit of fear mongering but if you read any Pew Research polls you see that this country is far more "progressive" than the fox news will have you believe. It is quite obvious that the media deliberately perpetuates the myth that America is a "conservative" country. It is as long as you leave out issues such as health care, the environment, education, women's rights, equal pay for equal work, etc. As the only significant nation WITHOUT a national health program, an intelligent energy policy and a properly funded national public education system (all of which were factors made worse during the disastrous Bush-Cheney terms), how do YOU think we're doing? We're 37th in healthcare, gawd knows where in education and we throw hundreds of billions of dollars at oil producing nations. Change from the wrong-headed right wing policies that have driven this country to its knees simply cannot be as bad as you want to make it appear. Think about this: who would have voted for Bush in either 2000 and 2004 if we had known how things would turn out?

This not only seems paranoid, but proves that the author is completely out of touch with "liberals" and "progressives". This article is painting the left as Nazi's, and last night we had McCain nearly calling Obama a Communist. The Right seems to have this delusion that an Obama presidency would be a catastrophe. It is hard to sell that to an American populace who see the last eight years of Republican policy as a complete failure. We have had W. telling us for the last eight years that "The Economy is strong" over and over again despite the overwhelming evidence of a coming recession. I think the Republicans need to wake up and take a good look at what is happening. One of the reasons Obama is going to win the election is because there are a lot of angry people who did not vote, or simply did not care enough to vote in the last two elections who are going to vote in this one. There are a lot of people out there who work hard and do not depend on government aid or handouts, who are still unable to keep their head above water in this economy. The Republicans have been fooling "Joe the Plumbers" into supporting them for years with this "Small Government" fallacy for a long time, but the real Joe the Plumbers out there are making less and less every year do to inflation and health care and they are blaming the Right for it.

It's scary how afraid the Right is of the Left. Its unfounded.
