Ford should be given a star on the Hollywood Walk.

10 May, 2006 (06:39) | Harold Ford | By: Phil Ayres

Apparently, with all the celebrity contributors that Harold Ford has, clearly, Hollywood sees Ford as a friend.  I admit . . . this article discusses celebrities outside of Hollywood who are in support of Ford.  This article mentions that “Tennessee has had nationally recognized and respected senators who are guided by and grounded in Tennessee values.  Ford shares those values.”  But, I ask you . . . does Rob Reiner share the same values as the typical Tennessean?  Probably not.  My guess is that “Meathead” (All in the Family reference) went for Kerry in ‘04, Gore in ‘00, Clinton 2 times, Dukakis, Mondale, and McGovern.  I don’t remember Tennessee doing the same.  Clearly, liberal celebrities know something that the Ford campaign does not want to share.

Does Ophelia Ford care anything at all about Harold Ford?

26 April, 2006 (07:26) | Harold Ford, Tennessee News | By: Phil Ayres

Clearly, Ophelia does not want Harold to get elected.  If she did, she would just “like the old soldier” – “fade away”.  Suing the Tennessee Senate will not quite help Harold’s already meager chances to get elected in a conservative state.

Harold Ford’s out-of-state fundraising

18 April, 2006 (07:52) | Harold Ford, Tennessee News | By: Phil Ayres

The Tennessean published an article today stating that “Memphis Democrat Harold Ford Jr.’s fundraising since Jan. 1 is nearly that of the three leading Republican contenders combined.”

However, when one looks at WHERE the money is coming from, it is easy to see why.  Harold Ford knows no geographical boundaries with his fundraising.  And, it appears that Ford knows others much better than he knows Tennesseans.  For example, let’s contrast the candidates:

Bob Corker 95% in-state, 6% out-of-state

Van Hilleary 88% in-state, 13% out-of-state

Ed Bryant 91% in-state, 10% out-of-state

However, a whopping 59.2% of Harold Ford’s money comes from outside the state of Tennessee!  ONLY 40.8% of Harold Ford’s campaign financing comes from the people who he wants to represent.  Unbelievable!  Now, these numbers cause me to wonder who Harold Ford really wants to represent.  Fortunately, Ford cannot bus in Bill Clinton, Sarah Jessica Parker, and the rest of his supporters to vote in the election.  Unfortunately for Harold, at some point, he will actually have to reach out to Tennesseans and ask for their votes.

Harold Ford fundraiser in New York

23 March, 2006 (06:22) | Harold Ford | By: Phil Ayres

What is good for Sarah Jesica Parker and her Hollywood friends is not likely to be good for Tennessee.  That is right.  Harold Ford is having ANOTHER fundraiser in New York – this one hosted by Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker.

I have never known Sarah Jessica and her husband Mathew Broderick (a.k.a. Ferris Beuler) to support conservative causes.  Yet, they support Harold Ford.  Do you think that they know something that the average Tennessee voter does not.

Harold Ford tries to put himself out as a conservative because he knows that it is the only way for him to get elected in Tennessee.  However, who would he become if he is elected?  I think that he would conveniently forget the people who elected him and remember the folks who raised the money to get him elected.

Back online!

20 March, 2006 (05:38) | Harold Ford | By: Phil Ayres

After a weekend of celebrating my friend’s wedding in the Catalina Islands, I am back online.  Great time.  And, if you are a groomsman in the not-to-distant future, might I suggest to you the GREATEST groomsman gift EVER.  A personalized bobblehead.  That’s right.  Just like numerous baseball players . . . I have my very own personalized bobblehead.  I’ll throw a pic up in a little while.  Seems like I missed a few slow days of posts and news.  I was going through some links and found it to be very interesting that Forward with Ford believes that if the Tennessee Supreme Court strikes the gay marriage amendment – that would be a win for Ford.  I fail to see that.  It would seem to me that most Democrats would be opposed to the Amendment.  So, does that mean that Ford is in favor of gay marriage?  Just wondering.  But, I guess it would be hard to find that out since Harold Ford has NOTHING on his website about his stance on any issues.  It has been “Coming Soon” for months now.  Wow, is it ever coming?  Or, is it possible that just maybe Harold doesn’t want much placed in writing?  It’s pretty easy to duck, dive, and take whatever popular stance you want to take on issues if there is nothing in writing.

Harold Ford . . . still fancy!!!

13 March, 2006 (08:32) | Harold Ford | By: Phil Ayres

Does anyone have a sense of humor?  Let’s look at Fancy Ford.com for what it is . . . funny.  And, why do people object to this website?  Apparently, Harold Ford spent the weekend defending the fact that the evil Republicans political web site smearing” him.  Is it really a “smear” to discuss facts of a public nature?  Supposedly, this information is true.  It is from Harold Ford’s campaign finance disclosures.  How can you object to a website with facts about the candidate?  Is that a “smear”?  Why does everything have to be so serious?  Come on, it is funny.  Let’s laugh about it.

By the way, it was a really original idea to develop Fancy Frist.  Wow, where did Democrats ever come up with that?  I think who ever came up with that idea was the same braintrust who – as a child – responded to insults with “I know you are.  But, what am I?”  Of course, he is “fancy” (whatever that means).  He comes from one of the wealthiest families in the country! But, the last time I checked, he was not running for re-election.  I give the Democratic Senatorial Committee a D- for originality on this one.  And, I shutter to think what American Idol’s Simon would give them on this one.

Harold Ford out of touch with Tennesseans

10 March, 2006 (06:32) | Harold Ford | By: Phil Ayres

I see FancyFord.com for what it is . . .  funny.  But, others don’t quite see it that way.  Look, I would never try to justify indiscretions by Republicans . . . or their taste in cigars.  But, that is not what this critique of fancyford.com is about.  Besides, this website merely dredges up Republicans who are no longer in office as a comparison to the antics of Harold Ford.  I think fancyford.com does a good job of telling who Harold Ford really is.  If these are the facts, voters are entitled to know about them.  Voters are entitled to know that he spends $2,549 for Armani suits while professing to be a public servant championing the causes of the poor and middle class.  People are entitled to know that Ford spends thousands of dollars on lavish hotels.  And, when you get into the numbers, people are entitled to know that nearly half of his campaign contributions are coming from out-of-state, that Harold Ford is the king of PAC money, and that Washington, D.C., New York City, and Chicago are listed in the top 5 areas for contributions to Harold Ford (not Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Jackson, and Memphis!).  One of these facts alone does not tell the story.  But, collectively, it tells me that Harold Ford is completely detached from the average Tennessean.

Harold Ford became a Congressman the year he graduated from law school.  He failed the Tennessee bar exam, and he has YET to spend one day as a lawyer.  Fancy Ford has never held a job outside of public office.  This is not an attack.  It is just fact.  He has no idea what the values of Tennessee are.  He is just another product of the exclusive Washington boys school, St. Albans.  Tennessee does not need another St. Albans grad as a United States Senator.

Ooooh, Fancy Ford

9 March, 2006 (07:56) | Harold Ford | By: Phil Ayres

Wow, Jay Bush pointed out this very entertaining website about the lavish lifestyle of Harold Ford.  It is called Fancy Ford.  Amazing that a “public servant” could live such a lifestyle.  It reminds me of that show on E! called “It’s Good to Be [insert celebrity name]“.  I think it is time for “It’s Good to be Harold Ford”.
