Fisher to the BIG D???????? I hope to God, not!

22 January, 2007 (14:07) | Tennesee Titans | By: Phil Ayres

OK, I just heard one of the talking heads on ESPN say that Dallas may go after Fisher – now that Parcells is out.  Oh, my God, this cannot happen.  Then again, Fisher would be completely stupid to head off to Dallas and play for that jackass.  Bud needs to put Fisher on a long-term deal, give him more control over the team, and bring in a GM that is not as strong of a figure as Floyd Reese.

GO TITANS!!!!!

McNair thrown off the property

4 April, 2006 (05:50) | Tennesee Titans | By: Phil Ayres

I agree.  McNair is a big-time has been.  However, I don’t think that “throwing him off the property” is such a good idea.  On the other hand, I am sure there is more to this story than this article discusses.

Titans getting Leinart, Cutler, or Young

31 March, 2006 (06:25) | Tennesee Titans | By: Phil Ayres

Well, this will put to rest any of the rumors that we are drafting Debrickashaw Fereguson (however you spell that) or any other non-QB.  The suspense is killing me.  I can’t wait to find out who it will be.  Who do you all think it will be?

Vince Young on the rise

23 March, 2006 (06:36) | Tennesee Titans | By: Phil Ayres

Apparently, Vince Young put on quite a show for Floyd Reese and other NFL reps.  After his less-than-stellar Wonderlic test, I guess Vince’s stock is yet again on the rise.  I think that people have been focusing on that Wonderlic test way too much.  It seems to me that it tests someone’s abilities to read information and respond on paper.  This is only one form of I.Q..  All I care about is how the guy can play.  If you watched the National Championship, you know the answer to that!  Nevertheless, I would still rather have Cutler.

Titans get David Givens

14 March, 2006 (11:24) | Tennesee Titans | By: Phil Ayres

Boy, this was a (rare) bit of positive news for Titans fans.  I always felt that David Givens was underrated.  New England has so many guns that they don’t use him enough.  However, given that we have the talent of my high school’s football team, he might be poised for a break-out with the Titans.

Now, we lose Brad Hopkins . . .

1 March, 2006 (07:05) | Tennesee Titans | By: Phil Ayres

How much more hemmoraging of players can the Titans afford?  By the way, I saw Jeff Fisher at Publix last night.  He is a little bit shorter than I though he was.  He is around my height.  At his height, I am amazed that he played in the NFL.  Also, at least Floyd Reese is not planning to pay the ever-broke-down McNair that $50 million bonus.  Good for him.  Maybe, we are on the right track at Tennessee after all.

All you Cutler haters . . . pay attention

26 February, 2006 (17:40) | Tennesee Titans | By: Phil Ayres

Nashville is Talking responded to my post about why the Titans should take Jay Cutler over Vince Young.  You also have to look at what we will get in return.  You can’t just focus on your feelings about Cutler.  If you look at Vince Young, no doubt, he is a GREAT athlete.  And, as far as a college QB, he was superb.  But, he does not fit the mold of an NFL QB.  He is very similar to Michael Vick.  How has that worked out for Atlanta?  I am sick of all the Vick defenders.  Where are the stats?  When will he become a good QB in the NFL?  How about NEVER.  He may be the greatest athlete the NFL has ever seen but he will never be a good QB in the NFL.  The same thing goes for Vince Young.

Looks like we are still getting Vince Young

25 February, 2006 (23:59) | Tennesee Titans | By: Phil Ayres

After hearing Floyd Reese’s comments, sounds like he is planning on getting Vince Young in the draft.  I have mixed feelings about this pick.  I think that Vince Young is a TREMENDOUS athlete.  I am just not convinced that his style will mix well in the NFL.  On the other hand, I believe that Jay Cutler will be a great NFL QB.  Bottom line, I think that Cutler is better than Leinart.  If Leinart had QB’d Vandy last year, rather than Cutler, we would have had 3 more losses.  Cutler is just a winner.

Maybe, we are better off with Cutler.

15 February, 2006 (07:48) | Tennesee Titans | By: Phil Ayres

So, if Vince Young and Leinart are too prissy and “prima-donna”ish to throw at the combine, maybe we are better off with Cutler.  I think that, perhaps, this could provide some insight into who they are as players and people.  I question their desire.  As a Vandy fan, I never questioned Jay Cutler’s desire.
