Tennessean jailed in Japan for trying to reclaim children

29 September, 2009 (12:07) | Tennessee News | By: Phil Ayres

Came across this story on CNN.com.  Apparently, this guy is from Franklin, TN.  Terribly tragic story.  Little did I know that Japan is not a part of the 1980 Hague Convention on International Child Abduction.  Terrible story:

He headed for the U.S. consulate in Fukuoka to try to obtain passports for Isaac and Rebecca.

But Japanese police, alerted by Savoie's ex-wife, were waiting.

Consulate spokeswoman Tracy Taylor said she heard a scuffle outside the doors of the consulate. She ran up and saw a little girl and a man, whom police were trying to talk to.

Eventually, police took Savoie away, charging him with the abduction of minors — a crime that upon conviction carries a prison sentence of up to five years.

The consulate met with Savoie on Monday and Tuesday, Taylor said. It has provided him with a list of local lawyers and said it will continue to assist.

This reminds me a lot of the case of that guy whose wife ran off to Brazil.

I wonder which Franklin judge was involved with this divorce proceeding.

25 September, 2009 (08:33) | Tennessee News | By: Phil Ayres

There are probably few things more embarrassing than having your city’s Mayor fist bump the Dalai Lama… geeeez.

Newspaper bailouts on the way?

21 September, 2009 (08:15) | Tennessee News | By: Phil Ayres

Well, it looks like the next push may be to continue to transfer our seemingly endless supply of money to the newspaper industry.  Obama would be "happy to look at" bills that would give newspapers tax breaks if they reorganized as nonprofit businesses.  ABSURD.  So, now, we would effectively be federally subsidizing efforts to push a liberal agenda.  You don't think that new newspaper industry would consider firing half of their newsroom and replacing them with conservatives, do you?  Of course not.  I can't even believe this is being discussed.

Nahon Law Firm

11 September, 2009 (09:15) | Tennessee News | By: Phil Ayres

As I am back in Nashville, I am reminded of the "quality ambulance chasing" that my good friend from law school, Jason Nahon, is up to.  These commercials kill me.  Very funny.

Steelers steal the game out of stupidity

11 September, 2009 (08:22) | Tennesee Titans, Tennessee News | By: Phil Ayres

I hope that Rob Bironas feels very bad this morning.  (He missed a FG and … yes… the 2nd was his fault… it was too low.  That's why it got blocked.)  And, frankly, I don't understand why the defensive line essentially quit at the end of the game.  With 5 minutes in the pocket… I am quite confident that I could have completed the passes that Roesthlisberger did to beat us.  And, where were the DBs?  They played 10 yards off the receivers at all times the last 10 minutes.  Ridiculous.

Forget the Terrible Towels and play football!

9 September, 2009 (09:34) | Tennesee Titans, Tennessee News | By: Phil Ayres

Seriously, I can't believe this stupid controversy is still going on.  Going into Heinz field and getting a W is tough enough without provoking the opposing team to violence by doing something so lame as stomping on their "Terrible Towels".

Lendale – with this ridiculous nicknames and this – is the kind of guy that gets caught up in this form of stupidity.  Seriously, let it go and just try to get the win.

Tyler Bray – Vols QB of the future commits

8 September, 2009 (13:46) | Tennessee News, Vol Football | By: Phil Ayres

Apparently, the win over the weekend was very impressive to Tyler Bray.  The Kingsburg, California native committed to Tennessee.

It has been said that he is one of the fastest QBs in the country.  I located this video of him, running a few years back.  I think this video would confirm that:
