Vanderbilt #27 ranked recruiting class
I never thought I would see the day that Vanderbilt would have a potential Top 25 recruiting class. This program is changing!

For those of you in Nashville and for those of us who have ESPN Gameplan… the Vandy-Georgia game time will be 11:30 (the Raycom game).
I am still disillusioned with Bobby Johnson’s decision to play Chris Nicksen in the 2nd half – though he was not moving the ball. I am so concerned that he will try this, again. Why was he the only one watching the game the other day who failed to recognize that McKenzie Adams needed to be in the game?
You might have noticed some of the clever signs at the Vandy-Auburn game the other day… Here is a short list…
1. Everyone’s Scared to Play the Nerds
2. We Read Options AND Books
3. I Got My GED at Auburn
4. You People Are Blocking the Library!!
5. The Geeks Shall Inherit the Turf
6. Vandy vs. Auburn: PhD’s vs. GED’s
7. 4-0, No Longer Just a GPA
8. Eagle Seen Picking Nose
9. Smart with Heart
10. Vanderbilt Grads: Hiring SEC Grads Since 1873
11. Geek and Destroy
And my favorite,
12. Phil Fulmer Ate My Other Sign
I don’t even know what to say or do, right now. After years of frustration … watching us so close to success… but, never being able to pull the trigger… we finally did it.
This is a different Vandy team. This team is a bunch of winners. So many Vandy teams in the past would have gotten to the 4th quarter and blew it… we are no longer the lovable losers. We are going to a bowl. I don’t want to jinx it. But, I feel it.
ESPN Gameday is coming to Vandy on Saturday!!!!!
Well, as expected, we have been let down (again). But, things have changed. For starters, I tried to go to the game yesterday. As I walked around my alma mater, I hardly recognized where I was. Where there used to be parking lots, there are huge buildings. The crappy, old baseball field – no more. And, finally, and more shockingly … ticket prices. That’s right. They were fetching $40 for the SC game! Then, I tried to buy tickets from scalpers. I was shocked and dismayed to find that I couldn’t get any tickets under $35!!! $35 for Vandy!!!!!????? So, despite my love for the Commodores, I know that 95% of Vandy games are not worth that amount of money (as yesterday would prove to be correct). So, I left.
Despite the bad game yesterday and the close losses which are Vanderbilt’s “m-o”, I feel that we have turned the corner. I admit; Bobby Johnson is starting to win me over. I couldn’t stand this guy in the beginning, when he was pushing his “anti-profanity” agenda, as we won 2 games per season. Then, I thought that he was a joke. (Can you imagine Phil Fulmer saying …. “guys …. no more f-bombs and potty words”. I fear the Vols would have very little to say.) But, now, I think that Johnson has proven himself to be a serious coach who is finally getting us going in the right direction. He may not be the ultimate answer; but, for right now, he is the best that we can get. My hat is off to the Vandy players. Despite yesterday’s hiccup, you guys are a world ahead of where Vandy was when I was in college (the Damian Allen era). Go Dores. Keep the faith. Someday, we WILL go to a bowl. And, hey, whereever and whenever it is, I already told my wife, “I am going … no matter what!”
