Fulmer is gone
Well, the’90s were good. But, his century, not so great. Fulmer is out. It is time for a change. I think everyone knows it.
Fulmer and the Vols disgraced again by South Carolina
It’s official. The Vols have lost to every single rival and in a disgraceful way. Fulmer is a pathetic excuse for a coach – way past his time. If Hamilton does not fire him within weeks, you can kiss the program goodbye.
And, if Hamilton – as he said – doesn’t listen to the fans in making decisions like this, he WILL start listening when nobody gives a damn enough to go to the games next year.
Fire Fulmer. It’s an absolute no-brainer.
Former Vol football player Chris Mims found dead
Wow, this is a shock. He was a great Vol.
Fulmer “acknowledges” that the Vols can’t lose again
Well, no kidding, Fulmer…
When asked if this was more of a must-win or a game of pride, UT Coach Phillip Fulmer didn’t hesitate.
“It’s all of the above,” Fulmer said. “It’s not business as usual. This is a very important time for us as we fight like heck to stay in the championship mix and hope somebody else gets beat.”
Realistically, it doesn’t look good for the Volunteers. Despite stellar play by the defense, Fulmer said the offense is still a work in progress and new starting quarterback Nick Stephens needs to improve.
Those flaws can be masked against a team from the Mid-American Conference, but not against a top program like Georgia.
“We can’t stop ourselves, because if we do that against a team like Georgia, it’s going to hurt us a lot more than it did Saturday,” Stephens said.
Fulmer said there would be no quarterback competition this week and Stephens will be the starter at Georgia. Stephens had his first start against Northern Illinois and was 10 of 17 passing for 156 yards, including a 52-yard touchdown pass.
Another loss wouldn’t just hurt the Volunteers, it might be downright decimating, no matter who starts at quarterback.
This is the worst Vol team since pre-Fulmer… ridiculous … the lack of effort that goes on week-to-week.
Kickin’ Fulmer to the curb
There was an article in the Tennessean today about firing Fulmer… come on people… wake UP!!!!!
“I don’t think it’s going to get done without a change,” said Tracy Larabee, 48, a CPA from Oak Ridge and 20-year season ticket holder. “Nobody can say they dislike the person — he’s a really good guy — but the last eight years, they haven’t been able to beat the teams they need (to beat) to be successful.”
Fulmer still has a strong support network, however. His believers point to his No. 7 ranking on the Southeastern Conference’s all-time wins list. They also note Fulmer’s .755 winning percentage, which is the second-highest for any active coach with a minimum of 10 years experience.
Knoxville resident Rusty Farrell, 59, is one of those supporters. He is a major donor to Lady Vols athletics and has been a football season ticket holder since 1980.
“I would be one to let the season play out,” Farrell said. “I think Phillip has done a good job over the years. For whatever reason they don’t have the players or are missing talent at key positions. It’s too early to throw the coach under the bus.”
Others are more than willing to, however. And they point to Fulmer’s 14-14 record during his last 28 SEC games.
“I think he’s overpaid for the job he’s doing,” said Knoxville-area resident Janie Edwards, 44. “It’s time for him to go. I think we need a change.”
I am actually shocked that ANYone supports him anymore. The guy HAS TO GO. He is destroying the program. He is a “has been” and his day is LONG PAST. Fire him!
Vols barely beat Northern Illinois
So, does anyone out there NOT think that Fulmer should be fired before this season is over? He is a disgrace. The Vols are on a one-way train to nowhere. Meanwhile, the whole SEC is getting better; the Vols are just getting worse.
Today, I was just thinking about the tremendous quality of the coaches in the SEC. Look around. Richt in Georgia, Meyer in Florida, Spurrier… Saban… and, now, Bobby Johnson has built a great program at Vanderbilt. Meanwhile, the Vols just get worse…. and worse… and worse… thanks, primarily, to bad coaching and terrible recruiting.
That’s the problem with sucking – as the Vols do. Recruiting only gets harder. It is difficult to build from nothing. If Fulmer is not fired soon, there will be nothing left to build from.
Crompton’s out… Stephens starts
Who knows if he is any better… but, at least he isn’t named Crompton….

Lane Kiffin coming to coach the Tennessee Vols?
A good friend out in L.A. called me to let me know that there is a rumor going around California and being discussed on the radio that Lane Kiffin, the recently fired Raiders coach, will be the next coach of the Vols – after Fulmer gets the inevitable can, of course (hopefully, sooner than later). Not sure how I feel about this one. As far as I can see, he has no ties to the SEC, in any way. Don’t know much about him – other than what I have seen out of him with the Raiders. Nevertheless, whereever he goes, I know Kiffin will be glad to get away from “Weird Al” Davis.
