While Jay Bush has a great idea about Van backing off to seek Gordon’s seat, I am a bit turned off about the possiblity of these individuals floating around uncommitted to any one position . . . and just seeking to be voted into office somewhere. I think there is a reason Van would not have sought that seat to begin with. While it would be nice for Bryant, I think the fine people of the Boro would be sold short by having a Congressman who has pretty much no connection with them (He moved there after he got out of office – from what I understand.) and clearly had no desire to pursue that office at the beginning of this election cycle.
This just doesn’t sit right with me. If Bart does leave, we can find a good Republican (not a district “carpetbagger”) to step-up and run for that position.
What would be a far better candidate to office match would be for Corker to leave the Senate race for the Governor’s. Most(if not all) of Corker’s good points relate to the executive, not the legislative.
George, that argument has some merit, for sure. It would have been nice if we Republicans could have pooled our talent resources effectively in this race. What a shame. At this point, it appears that with who we will end up nominating for Governor (whoever the candidate is) . . . our chances of electing Bozo the clown will be better than who we will end up with. After all, Bozo has notoriety. Our candidate, likely, will not.
Bart will stay in office as long as he wants it.
The establishment in the Boro backs him financially and otherwise. He votes like a Republican anyway. Even when Williamson County was part of Bart’s district, Steve Gill couldn’t win…during the Republican Revolution of 1998. Bart also passed the Bar on his first attempt. Give the Boro some credit.
